March 24 Dine College Teacher Workshop
Tatiana Shubin, Anne McCarthy, and Pam Smith ran a workshop. This workshop had a slightly different structure than some of our past workshops. After breakfast, teachers divided into teams of 4 to 6. Each team will pick from a selection of prepared math activities. The teachers read the materials and played with math festival activities.

Abstract for Anne and Pam’s session
Participants will use the practice of “notice and wonder” to find multiple strategies for solving problems. These examples will demonstrate that taking the time to notice and be thoughtful often uncovers patterns, relationships, or understanding that make problems easier to solve. This practice illustrates the importance of discourse and communication of mathematical ideas.
